WORKSHOP: CREATING 10-MINUTE MUSICAL THEATRE

This workshop is designed to provide you with the tools, strategies and confidence needed to create and develop your very own 10-minute cabaret or musical theatre work in time for Short+Sweet Festival Auckland 2016. Join seasoned performer and Hotspot Cabaret producer Aaron Tindell as he leads an in-depth exploration of cabaret and musical theatre. This session will include interactive discussions, anecdotal tips, advice and practical exercises aimed at honing your storytelling skills.
Open to writers, directors, performers, musicians and creators of all experience levels interested in creating and/or workshopping musical theatre.

WORKSHOP: WRITING 10-MINUTE THEATRE

This workshop explores writing for 10-minute theatre. Bring along your idea(s) or script and gain insights into crafting a fully developed, concisely told 10 minute story. Acclaimed playwright Albert Belz leads this workshop with interactive discussions, tips and advice, and practical exercises to assist and equip participants with the tools necessary to progress your writing for theatre.

Coming off an amazing season at the Pop Up Globe, theatre maker Ben Henson lends his experience and knowledge in this workshop aimed at increasing participants’ skill levels, knowledge and confidence in directing 10-minute theatre through discussions and practical exercises. It’s been exciting to see the Festival grow over the last six years as more and more audiences and creatives have gotten involved in Short+Sweet Festival.
In 2016, Short+Sweet Festival Auckland is presenting the Short+Sweet Theatre Workshop series designed to support local creatives in their professional development and the creation of more high quality, original 10 minute works. We’ve called upon experienced industry players and practitioners to share their knowledge, tips and experiences to help new and emerging creatives from all communities hone their theatre storytelling skills.
This series of affordable workshops are aimed at building up local creatives by increasing their skill levels, knowledge and confidence in directing, writing and composing for ten-minute theatre and musicals.
These workshops are open to creatives of all types and experience levels who may need a little extra help, an outside eye on their developing script or a boost in inspiration.
