SHORT + SWEET DANCE
AUCKLAND

Show 2 | 14 – 15 September

The mystery of contemporary dance is explored across distance – weaving movement between NZ and Finland – amidst shifting companionship, travelling bodies, time delay and closeness. A desire to abandon attachment to particular aesthetics, we fail and look to the future as we borrow from the past; our own scars and others’ glory. This work is an excerpt, a fantasy.

NZ performer Goater (NZ) relocated to Helsinki 2 years ago, and dancer/choreographer Palm (FI) visited Auckland for the first time earlier this year. Both are currently Helsinki based dance artists. They have collaborated on ‘Drift’ with two dancers; Touch Compass star Alisha McLennan Marler (NZ), and multimedia dance artist Sierra Diprose (NZ) also with Touch Compass, as well as independent sound designer/producer James Risbey (CA/NZ), who are all active artists in the Auckland dance and performance community.
