Donald Trump was only the beginning of the end of democracy in America. By 2026 AD, the United States is repressing opinions, controlling all media and oppressing minorities. Independence Day used to celebrate old American values such liberty and freedom is now a solemn observance of God’s founding of America. Parades are more like religious processions and fireworks are a only a memory. Elsie is waking up to the Fourth of July weekend sick, alone and without hope of recovery, but has to get her story out to the rest of the world by recording a ten-minute video to be clandestinely smuggled out of the country.
