I you say thank you, is it because you mean it, or because you’re supposed to say it after you buy something? A series of monologues based on the experience of working in hospitality when you’re young.     An adapted and re-written version of David Mamet’s last scene in Sexual Perversity in Chicago. This scene originally was two men catcalling women and focuses on the hyper-masculinity and toxicity of this language. Our version is gender flipped and with a lot more tequila.

    An acting solo derived from an assessment in 2015 created at Pacific Institute of Performing Arts. This solo draws upon Melissa’s life being of being a half cast and the experiences she has encountered in life – racism, abandonment, insecurities and self acceptance.

  • About The Director

    Lauren works as a playwright, director, filmmaker, actor and drama tutor. She has directed various stage productions for the Pacific Institute of Performing Arts, Smackbang Theatre Company, ATC and Four Afloat Productions She began her career playing the lead in the NZ feature film Alex. Following her graduation from Toi Whakaari: NZ Drama School in 2001, Lauren has enjoyed a variety of stage, screen and radio work.
