If I say thank you, is it because I’m thankful or because if I don’t my manager will fire me? I you say thank you, is it because you mean it, or because you’re supposed to say it after you buy something? A series of monologues based on the experience of working in hospitality when you’re young. A time of so many possibilities, so many opportunities, so many sweaty times, so many cuts on your hands, so many times you just want to scream ARE YOU F$%KING SERIOUS?!

An adapted and re-written version of David Mamet’s last scene in Sexual Perversity in Chicago. This scene originally was two men catcalling women and focuses on the hyper-masculinity and toxicity of this language. Our version is gender flipped and with a lot more tequila.

Director Kacie Stetson -
Director/Writer Kacie Stetson has over twenty-years experience directing professional theatre in the USA and in New Zealand. She has extensive acting and directing credits in film, theatre and TV. Her screenplay THE HIDDEN was a finalist in the 2017 Page International Screenwriting awards, beating out thousands of scripts from all over the world. NGANGA, her second novel, is currently being pitched by Fictional Entity Management in Los Angeles. Kacie runs one of the top acting studios in Auckland – The Kacie Stetson Studio. She just started submitting her first film, Upside Down, to festivals.

Director Lauren Jackson -
Lauren works as a playwright, director, filmmaker, actor and drama tutor. She has directed various stage productions for the Pacific Institute of Performing Arts, Smackbang Theatre Company, ATC and Four Afloat Productions She began her career playing the lead in the NZ feature film Alex. Following her graduation from Toi Whakaari: NZ Drama School in 2001, Lauren has enjoyed a variety of stage, screen and radio work.
